Nate and I have been hankering to go camping but seeing how he was gone all summer and life got really busy after he came home, it hasn’t happened yet this year. The weekend we planned to go camping it ended up being stormy. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ll go camping when it’s raining and cold. It’s just that it was also the weekend of conference and we both knew if it was cold and wet in the morning no amount of good fishing was going to get us up in time to pack up and leave by eight. So we opted for a quick fishing trip up Payson Canyon and went to borrow some gear from my parents (since we don’t have our own just yet…or room for our own for that matter). We could tell my dad really wanted to go so he came along with us. Good thing to because I’ve lost any smidgen of talent I ever had with casting. So now we’re thinking we need to go with Nate’s dad. And by ourselves. And then take some friends. Yeah, we really like fishing and just being outside.
Nate caught this fish about 2 minutes after his first cast into the lake. As you can see, it was very tiny so we let it go.
We caught 3 good size fish to take home and eat. Not bad for only an hour, eh? (well, minus the time it took to drive up and back…) Nate caught two (plus the one we let go) and my dad caught one. We had lots of nibbles, I should have caught at least three fish but apparently I still have a problem with setting the hook. I never did get the technique down when I was younger. Next time, I will get one!!
